It is on the Lagoa do Canário that this wonderful walk begins and ends. This walk will take you on a stunning journey through the discovery of several lagoons at Serra Devassa, such as Lagoa das Éguas, Lagoa Rasa, Lagoa do Carvão and others.

The Serra Devassa is part of one of the major mountains in São Miguel Island and, along the path, there are various points where you have superb views over the north and south coast of the island, surrounded by that vast Atlantic Ocean.

Embrace this splendorous nature and appreciate the various species of flora, such as Beech, Heather and the Laurel that grace and perfume the air. There is also a great variety of fauna, like the Azores Chaffinch, the Yellow-legged Gull paws and many others that offer a harmonious sound.

On the way back you can visit the famous aqueduct “Muro das Nove Janelas” (Wall of the nine windows) which was used to transport water to Ponta Delgada.
